(I can read charts or sheet music).
Although based in the West Midlands, I'm happy to travel across the UK (or further!).
I am also available for remote recording of Bass lines, composition or advice on charting songs for learning on Bass.

MY BASS HISTORY:
Since I first laid hands on the bass in 2013, I have become a seasoned musician,
gigging regularly with an ever-expanding roster of bands. I've journeyed through numerous genres,
embracing the infectious rhythms of Soul/Motown bands, the infectious energy of Ska/2Tone bands,
the celebratory atmosphere of party/wedding bands, and the authentic spirit of tribute acts.

I've also jammed or gigged with original artists, glam rock, blues rock, funk rock, prog, classic rock and alternative/indie.

Before “accidentally” taking up the Bass, I played drums for a few years, which greatly helps me in forming a strong rhythm section
in any project or band, and, previously, for most of my life, messed around on electric and acoustic guitars,
as well as dabbling with keys, soprano sax and clarinet (and like many, beginning on a recorder!).

I also work with clients in the music industry, from a business perspective, advising with
Business Plans and Investment/Development opportunities, including the emerging US artist Freemoor

Before I embraced the bass guitar, my musical inspirations came from the worlds of Jazz Fusion and Prog Rock,
with the bass virtuosity of Jaco Pastorius and Chris Squire leaving a lasting impact.
As I delved into the realm of soulful sounds, my admiration shifted, among others,
to the likes of James Jamerson and Leroy Hodges, two legends whose bass-lines pulse with soul and emotion.
There's no doubt that the legendary John McVie of Fleetwood Mac holds a special place in my heart.
Learning Marillion songs in 2023 has massively enhanced my understanding and appreciation of Pete Trewavas!

During 2020/2021 “Lockdowns”, I wasn't idle!
As well as keeping songs Gig-ready, I looked at new songs, charted additional songs in preparation for future Dep opportunities,
including many modern Pop/R&B favourites, some of which I gigged in April 2022, without rehearsal, as a Wedding Dep.
I've also streamed Live on many Saturday evenings with Musicians from all over the World, remotely, via WorldJam using Jamulus and Zoom.

Playing on WorldJam has been a great opportunity to learn and perform a truly eclectic mix of songs from
Abba, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Queen, Annie Lennox, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Harry Connick Jr, Amy Winehouse,
as well as a few Soul favourites from Marvin Gaye, The Ronettes, The Blues Brothers, Etta James and Ray Charles.
There are some Videos of these performances on my YouTube Playlist.

performinG

I get a real buzz from being in a Band and performing to a Live audience. I'm comfortable and quick learning new songs. I can read charts but prefer to learn the songs.
My style is not over-complex, working closely with the drums and other instruments, to benefit the whole sound of the Band.
